Mazghuna, located just south of Dahshur, is home to two lesser-known pyramids from the 12th Dynasty. These pyramids, attributed to Pharaoh Amenemhat IV and possibly Queen Sobekneferu, were never completed. While their superstructures were likely planned as true pyramids, only the substructures were finished, including deep descending corridors and intricate chamber systems. The architecture reflects the evolving pyramid design of the Middle Kingdom, focusing more on internal complexity than massive scale. Though they lack the grandeur of Old Kingdom monuments, Mazghuna’s pyramids are archaeologically significant, offering insight into a transitional period in Egyptian funerary architecture.
